Between 180 million and 200 million Shias live in Asia, representing about three-quarters of the world’s Shia population. Meanwhile, nearly a quarter of the world’s Shias (75 million to 100 million) live in the Middle East-North Africa. As noted, Most Shias (between 68% and 80%) live in four countries: Iran, Pakistan, India and Iraq. In the India and Pakistan; Shia'as are in minority as compare to overall population. In four countries – Iran, Azerbaijan, Bahrain and Iraq – Shia Muslims make up a majority of the total population.  There is strong Shi`i presence in Southeast Asia, and it is not simply a result of post-1979 events in Iran. It is rooted in a historical trajectory, especially of Islamic mysticism, or Sufism.Shiite Islam has deep rooted influence in present and history of India from North to South with various Shia Muslim dynasties ruling Indian provinces from time to time.
